I’d been meaning to model a character for a couple weeks now, so when I saw the weekend challenge was ‘character’ I decided to go at it. I just hit winter break, so I was able to spend 10 hrs + working on it. I finished well within time, and I was very happy with the result. This is fully rigged, though not completely finished weight painting.
Although I didn’t mean for it to be so, it’s still relatively low poly. With a little optimization, it could be under 10,000 faces.
I stole Sintel’s eyes… I didn’t want to worry about modeling eyes. I’ll have to work on that.
Although I won’t be working on this any more, crits and comments are welcome and encouraged! Thanks
Its is mainly the eyes that you need to work on. The face untextured looks better than the actual final result. Nice character though. Keep up the good work
Ristesekuloski: Thank you! I’m glad you like it. Mostly, I wanted to practice setting up a rig myself. Rigify is an amazing, but there are also a couple things I’m not a huge fan of… specifically the finger rig.
Flagus and Altair: Thanks for your thoughts! I agree with both of you. I think another part of the problem with the face is that I added a basic shape key for a smirk-ish… I think it distorted the face more than it helped it.
I definitely will be working more on texturing, though, in the future. It’s my weakest point. I’m just bad at it, lol.
