ATI Radeon 9700 problem?

G’day all,

I have a problem, which I think is due to my new ATI Radeon 9700 video card. I bought a new system (P4 2.4 GHz, 512 Mb, 80GB disk, WinXP Pro, ATI Radeon 9700) and I can’t run Blender Publisher 2.25. The program loads then I can’t access the menu items at all, mouse is erratic and the screen freezes intermitently.

As I was able to run Blender under WinXP previously, the only major difference I can see is the ATI Radeon 9700 card - which does support Open GL.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? Any suggestions greatfully received…

To make sure that it is hardware related, turn off all hardware acceleration and see if the problems remain.
I’ve had minor problems (crashing when editing actions) in the first times with my ATI 8500 : they all resolved when after a few days when new drivers were published.
You are obviously experiencing much more serious problems but the right driver may already be available at the ATI site.

I had issues also on my 9700pro with antialiasing and stuff turned on… change your settings from high quality to high performance… this worked for me… winXP AthlonXP2100 and ATI9700pro. Unfortunately there was no easy fix for using it with Wings3D… major issues there… went back and forth with ATI tech support for almost 2 weeks and finally they decided to have me send it in to get replaced with a newer revision board… hopefully the new one will come soon and hopefully it will have fixed my issues.

Thanks for the help!

Changing the settings from high quality to high performance worked a trick. But I would really like to know why??

I have downloaded the latest drivers, but this doesn’t seem to change things at all :frowning:

Keep checking for new drivers anyway : ATI usually takes some time to get things right.

Best of luck.
