attaching ropes and weapons to characters , how ?

Hi & 2 Questions .

a character climbing down a building as illustrated …
and he is carrying a rope which is attached in a (lets say a cylinder on the top) , …
he goes up right left and down , but the problem is how can this rope seam elastic and like if it is really binding with him throgh his approach to a specific point , …

have i to use a lot of pieces to make the rope seam stick-y (made of sticks) , … and then use bullet constraints , … :cool: and what is the right constraints … the wiki learns you how to establish one but don’t tell you how each one works :o , … excuse me … help me here
i know how to do it with one end
i mean a rope hanging from the celing and nothing is connected to it , … but here i want it to be connected to the right hand of the character

or bones method ? :confused: " i think it is hard"

and

the weapons and accsessories , … when i make a fully-rigged character , but i want to make a weapon for him

what is the best way , ok i will try to make it clear
1- create it as a seperate object then make the character’s bones control it as well
2- use empties to constraint it

how can i make the rope deform when it hits something

I always use my weapons attach with bones.
Rope things (i don’t know)??? :smiley:
But you can make some bones into the rope and make animatsions. And you can make : - if rope hits wall then somekind of animatsion. :slight_smile:

maybe you could start using hinge with many part to simulate the rope

there is a simple example from there you’ll be able to start thinking about the easiest way to make it work. try to use gost funcion to avoid the collision with the character. In fact it will need a lot of programming …

I think that slow parenting could kinda make the rope realistic…

when i try to add another piece to the collection , its pivot (pivot of the new is changed) , … how can this be fixed

You have them all (the added parts of the rope) constrained to the object 2, which is the top most part. Shouldn’t they all be constrained to the object just above them.

Example: 1st constrained to top, 2nd to 1st, 3rd to 2nd, and so on… then they jingle together. :smiley:

I just fixed your mistake ! You cannot just copy the box and think it would work. ! Take a look to the oject button and the constraint option and you’ll see the difference beetween the different boxes

ok i think it is gonna work with an empty or a seperate bone in the hand or back of the character :slight_smile:
