Visuals for an Audio Compressor plugin. Blender 2.49 with modelling in MOI (some shapes just cry out for NURBS) and rendered with the mighty Luxrender (0.6.1) on the usual #1 BiDir setting. I don’t have a record of the exact render times, but broadly speaking they were quite frightening
I spent a very long time searching and photographing endless bits of wood searching for just the right piece, but ended up using some very nice textures from cgtextures and Arroway. Isn’t it always the way?
Nice render! I’d be curious to see how SimpleLuxGPU 1.5beta1 would perform for this scene, I’m pretty sure you could get similar results in an half hour or so - the lighting seems pretty straight forward. Now, SLG doesn’t support bump maps yet - so it wouldn’t be a straight comparison (if you’re using that in your scene, that is).
Thanks! Alas, I’m not figuring out how on earth to get SimpleLuxGPU to run, but I would agree that its a mouth watering development that I’m watching closely.
Head over to luxrender.net/forum -> Core/GPU and I’m sure we’ll help you get going (needs login-registration). Could be fun to see how this scene fares also ppl hanging at #luxrender/irc.freenode.net
