Audio Sequencing Editing problems

I’m working on a short animation for two of my classes, and I decided to try the built-in sequencing editor for the first time. It is working out fairly well except for one problem with my audio.

I need to cut a 20ish second long segment out of the middle of an audio segment, but every time I use K to cut it, the second half of the strip starts from the beginning instead of the point when I cut it. I’ve looked around and can’t find anyone who shares my problem, so I’m sure I’m overlooking something simple. Any help you can offer is much appreciated, I’m inexperienced and my deadline is approaching quickly. Thanks! And sorry for taking up your time!

Hello
Blender’s sequencer it’s just “fantastic” but a bit particular, don’t take examples from other editing apps!
Copy your strip and “resize” them to have two different halves, one 1 to 50 and the other 50 to 100 for ex., if I understood well.
Bye
