Autumn Scene

Here is an old render of mine that I never got around to posting. I modeled the scene a while ago but updated the tree recently using the new sapling addon. Here is the finished render, rendered in blender internal:

Nice concept of going vertical. The tree, bench and lamp are really good.
But the size and position of the moon is a little hard to accept.

the moon is too large, but interesting composition…

Living in an area where the trees turn into flaming colors in the fall, the scene looks very unnatural to me because the vast majority of leaves seem to have fallen from the tree, but are not seen on the ground.

By the time the trees are as bare as you show, not only have the remaining leaves turned gray-brown and withered, but the grass is also turned brown from frost. The leaf-fall would be more apparent, even in well-kept parks or yards. Trees this barren are early winter trees.

When the foliage is at its peak colors (starting right about now in my region, actually), few leaves have actually fallen, so your tree needs a great deal more of them to look right, as many as in the summer months.

Crowding the huge bright moon into the corner drags the eye there immediately, weakening the composition overall. Consider reducing its size and brightness, and placing it more within the surrounding night sky.

moon looks great

Guess I should’ve put this in focused critique. Is there a way to move this thread there?

Very suggestive.
I really like the vertical format, but I agree with chipmasque :
