Luv it. Now, the only thing that I’d do to this is to do it in Courier New font – a typewriter font, or even an “old-fashioned CRT” font – so that the back-reference to “the obligatory 'first C-language program that everyone must write” is all that more obvious.

You basically just take 2 sets of extruded, 3d text (make sure they have the same number of letters), fit them together them at 90 degrees, and do a boolean operation by intersection. that way, only the parts of the meshes that intersect with each other will be kept.
