AwesomeBump: A free alternative to CrazyBump

Thanks for posting this, it looks very functional and I like that it’s cross-platform.

I can’t get it running here though. The application makes my laptop screen turn off and it becomes unresponsive. I’m on windows 7 and the log is happy with my OpenGL version so no idea what’s behind this. Best to post a bug report I think.

Looks a nice tool, but when going to the website i fall on the hoster webpage
http://www.pasteall.org/pic/84782

is this normal?

Thanks again Terrance8D.

The instruction you gave worked and I got a nice blue bump.

I was a little frustrated that ‘out of the box’ it wasn’t obvious how to stop the ’ Awesome Bump ’ logo from being used instead.

Sorry to hear other peoples are having problems.

BaRe, earlier today the website worked for me, but now I get the same purple hosting website as in your screenshot. It says it went over the CPU limit or something along those lines.

If it’s of any help, here is the youtube channel of the author https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCixFveWXmkVvYcMfHnmSdVw
And github where the project is hosted. https://github.com/kmkolasinski/AwesomeBump
No direct link for download or a mirror though.

The link has become a Polish hosting page! A search finds only that page too.

Perhaps the name “Awesome Bump” was too much in an election year??

I think we overloaded the poor guy’s website…Maybe he didn’t expect it to get so much traffic.XD It’s still available from GitHub though. You can still download it from here: https://github.com/kmkolasinski/AwesomeBump/releases/

You’re welcome! Glad I could help you.

Yeah, the bandwidth limit was exceded it looks like.

it would be a lot awesomer(not a word i know) if the link worked. :-/

So, what do you expect from crazybump or this excellent application.
I’m a little confused. I visited many threads, pre baking normal maps… I wonder though. How you gonna use them avoiding the well expected issues.

I want try in OSX, some way to download a installer o make one?

UPDATE: I contacted the developer, and he said that over 1,500 people visited his website today! I guess Bart also caught wind of this, it got featured on BlenderNation: http://www.blendernation.com/2015/03/04/awesomebump-open-source-texture-map-generator/ If you need to download it and the site is still down, head here for the Linux binaries: https://github.com/kmkolasinski/AwesomeBump/releases/tag/Linuxv2.1 And here for Windows binaries: https://github.com/kmkolasinski/AwesomeBump/releases/tag/Winx32v2.1

@michalis I’m not quite sure what you mean?

@DcVertice I don’t think there’s a Mac binary, you’ll have to compile it from source. He has a tutorial about that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-WgHserrS0

Hi, there!
I’am the AB author. The AB website is really down due to large daily traffic  I think tomorrow everything will work fine.

There was a question about OSX version: We still have a problem with OSX systems. Apple is far behind with recent openGL versions support in comparison to other platforms, which causes plenty of problems.
There is a repository where some job have been done in this field: https://github.com/ppiecuch/AwesomeBump
I don’t have access to computer with OSX, so any help from osx users is appreciated.

HERE IS A DIRECT LINK.

Cool program, will run tests! Thanks for sharing!

For those who have managed to run it, can you tell us how it is different from Crazybump?

Aren’t there people reviewing apps anymore, or they just leave with links? My impression will always be, if you’re not going to make any comments about your link, why bother?

There should be rules here that if you post a link, it should be accompanied with your personal comments. Otherwise, don’t bother posting it. It’s just spam.

It makes my machineto lug like hell (Linux Mint 17.1)…and finaly freeze

Can you share your system specs?

CPU: i7 3770/3.4 Ghz
GPU: GTX 650/1GB
RAM: 16GB
OS: Linx Mint 17.1 (cinnamon)

Drivers are up to date?

@SunBurn, nvidia or nouveau driver?

Did anyone of you managed to build and run AB on OSX?
