No idea what I’ve done, or what’s gone wrong, I’ve been working on a scene for a game, it’s pretty large, I’ve been sculpting a floor plane, building some simple low poly trees and buildings. All of a sudden Y has become Z and Z is now Y. Also when adding new objects they’re all slightly rotated around Y (which was Z) so nothing lines up.
Have I managed to alter the axis’ base lines somehow? I didn’t even know that was possible. And how come objects are being created ‘off’ axis even if I did?
I would like to be able to get the orientation back if I can.
You can do it by just selecting ‘origin only’ and repositioning it. You can also go into edit mode with everything selected and adjust the geometry in relation to the origin point. Another option, select a point / face in edit mode, snape the cursor to that, exit to object mode and set origin to cursor. (If you have the power snapping pies addon, you can do this with one click of “set origin to selected”.
Rotation, just rotate the item so it has the right ‘up’ orientation and ctrl+A apply rotation.
The only thing I can think of that might cause this is that you’ve inadvertently changed the Transform Orientation from Global to Local (or some other orientation). You’ll find it at the top of the Viewport, right under the workspace tabs:
If this is the case, selecting “Global” should put everything back to normal.
