Hey there!
Here’s the finished and final scene of my upcoming tutorial on compositing with Blender.
I couldn’t resist but to publish this little scene already, even though the tutorial will probably first be online later this week. So see this as a little teaser
The tracking has been done in Syntheyes (see my other tutorial vimeo.com/14135275). Once the scene was finished and rendered it somehow turned out to be some kind of homage to one of my favorite games: STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.T.A.L.K.E.R.:_Shadow_of_Chernobyl)
Here’s the video:
and here’s the node-setup:
and a split-screen view of the raw footage and the composite:
Thanks guys!
Michalis, which apps are you using? I would be very interested in your workflow.
Because the one thing that I really love about blender’s compositor is the tight integration with the 3d application itself. Which in my opinion makes everything much easier. No exporting, no mask pre-rendering etc. Of course if it comes to playback speed then it just sucks in comparison to e.g. AfterEffects. But then again, does AE have real 3d?
But yeah, it looks complicated. But I think in fact it IS kind of complicated to integrate 3d into life footage and get it to look roughly realistic.
One nice addition to the compositor would be this little node-tree quick navigate window that you have in other packages. Would make dealing with large compositions a bit easier.
And custom colors for the nodes.
Really looking forward to this tutorial Sebastian, is it a commercial release through cmiVFX? I bought the fluid sim tutorial off there whenever it came out but I couldn’t stand their video player system, in the end it put me off buying your Vray tut!
Yeah, it is a commercial release through cmiVFX. And I am sorry about the video player system, I know that is often issue, and I can understand that people want to download the tutorials rather than watching them online.
But very soon they will be releasing a completely new HTML5 player. Maybe that will be better?
