B-Renderon: Standalone render manager for Blender

speaking of naming, is there a way to remove frame suffix?

Unfortunately not. There’s no way that I’m aware of to prevent Blender from adding the frame number. You can customize it’s position in the path and how many digits to use by adding one or more hashtags together but the minimum is 1.

Hey pal, I haven’t popped in to heap praise since January I think…

• B-Renderon is better than ever and continues to rock my funky little world!

• B-Renderon saves me a buttload of time and money and has paid for itself many, many times over!

• B-Renderon has never once given me any trouble in the 6 years I have used it… I drag and drop my blends at the end of a long day animating and wake to my beautiful PNG sequences waiting for me!

• B-Renderon has been like a loyal, hard-working employee that I can count on, day in and day out!

• You Chanfiroly, are such a kickass dev and have been as wonderful and dependable as B-Renderon!

• I command any pro who makes their living in Blender (or amateur who values their time) to buy B-Renderon!

Something occurred to me, which compelled me to pop in today… You should really consider making a free “lite” version of B-R, stripped of all the advanced bells+whistles and maybe limit to one GPU. If ever there was an app that was a good candidate for this strategy it is B-R! I have a strong feeling that your user base would explode and sales would rise dramatically. And because it is standalone it makes it that much easier to pull this off. Something to chew on!

Thanks so much Chanfiroly! Keep rockin’ bro! : )

Amazing review!! Thanks a lot for your support as always.

Regarding a lite version, yes! I’ve thought about that myself. Many times I’ve stumbled upon people asking for solutions to problems that B-renderon solves very well and I wanted to recommend it but I bit my tongue because I figured they were looking for a free solution, and I thought there should be a free basic B-renderon version. So far I haven’t had the time to think more concretely on how to go about it and what would it look like but it’s an idea I keep coming back to.

That is so cool bro! Definitely do it if you can! Some things I would strip or limit:
• Definitely limit to one GPU
• No Watch Folders, Scheduler or Auto Shutdown
• No Scenes, View Layers, Cameras, Collections or Frame Range

So they would really need to have everything set up in blends for free/lite version. That and limiting one GPU should make it still very useful and valuable to folks, and whet their appetites enough that many will plunk down a little cash for the bells + whistles.

Getting the following error, any idea of what might be causing this?

That makes sense! Frame range I may keep in the lite version, since it’s necessary for the frames modes anyway and you can render frame ranges in frames mode.

Hi!
I’m not sure, it looks like an add-on is reporting that error. Do you know which add-on you are using that uses incorporates a ZmqServer?

I tested the same file with the command line and I’m getting the same error.
So probably is an Addon, which one - no idea. I guess I’ll have to check the last ones I installed/updated .

Found the Addon, it was V-Ray. Disabled it and it’s working now.

Thanks for letting me know! It will help others if they stumble with the same issue.
It would be good to know if that add-on just doesn’t work with command line rendering or if it needs some extra parameters passed or something. I’ll try to find that out.

Hey! The frames rendered counter shows how many images that have been saved, not how many frames that have been rendered, so if you have outputted several images from each rendered frame the counter will not show the correct amount of frames. Can this be fixed?

Hi! Which B-renderon version are you using?

4.0.3, which I was just going to say was the latest one, but I see you uploaded 4.12 just the other day. What’s new in that one?

Btw would it be possible to make some addon for Blender so you could just press a button to send whatever scene you have opened to B-Renderon? Would be a really handy addition to this great little program!

It’s mostly bug fixes (mainly a bug that caused B-renderon to sometimes freeze for some users), improvements for compatibility with Shot Manager and TurboTools and various other smaller improvements. Let me know if you are still experiencing the frames counting error you mantioned. I couldn’t reproduce it here so if it’s still happening for you with this latest release I’m going to need a bit more info.

Regarding a companion add-on for submiting jobs from Blender yes, that has been asked for before and it’s on the to-do list. It should be rather easy to implement (the infrastructure is already there in B-renderon to support this since there is already a feature to submit jobs to B-renderon in the Shot Manager add-on) but there’s been other priorities so far. Hopefully I’ll be able to work on that soon.

Seems to be working fine with that new version yes! Thank you ^^

Great! Thanks for letting me know!

Hi there!
Please tell me (I forgot again) how to turn on the mode so that one video card can perform two tasks at once? Render two lines at once.

Hi!
In older versions there was a setting to run parallel instances. It was aimed at allowing users with multiple GPU’s to set up parallel rendering, each job rendering with a different GPU. Since the set up was manual, it could lead to one device rendering more than one job at the same time, which can lead to the pc freezing, so I removed it in favor of parallel GPU modes, that automatically assign a different GPU for each job precisely to avoid that situation.

I hadn’t heard of a use case for rendering multiple jobs at once with the same GPU. I could easily bring back the parallel instances setting if you find it useful. In fact the setting is actually still there, just not revealed to users. In the mean time you could manually force it by, with B-renderon closed, editing it’s settings json file and increasing the number in the instancias_max field.
