This method is not very intuitive but at least it works like a charm !
For what i want to do ( switching from broken arch to round arch ) i will use crease as it is already integrated in blender and needs no script for setting up attributes ( and it also works in edit mode, when user attributes seem not to )…
Since what i build is only a succession of edges that don’t define faces, crease is useless and can then be used for what i need
Thanks again for your time and happy blending !
EDIT: and here’s the blend
test_voutes3.blend (3.8 MB)
Now i can go back to my medieval city modelin with a great tool that will help me a lot !
Yeah it’s not that complicated in the end, but you have to go through a basic learning and training that is pretty boring.
People generally want to take a simple modeling exercise to learn GN as they work, but even something simple is already complex and ask for different fundamental notions.
Without that step it’s nearly impossible to clearly understand what’s going on, and many things looks counter-intuitive or confusing.
Maybe try to take like 20/30mn a day, watch tutorials, study how nodes works without looking for a particular result, and once that very basic training is over it gets really easy to make complex stuff.
If at some point you’re interested in that I’d be happy to give some advice !
This is far more than just a GN setup. Event more than a tool !
It is nothing but a MUST-HAVE when you design medieval vaults, arches and most of architectural things !
