background image in IPO Curve Editor

Out of curiosity

would it be possible to add a background image
into the IPO Curve Editor so one can by hand draw
curves load the image into the IPO editor and trace
in Blender over those drawings to make the curves
matching.

Of course it’s possible. Getting someone to do it is of course a different matter.

I think it could be more interesting to have an add-on to import paths from Inkscape as bezier curves like in 2.49 and to be able to copy 2D bezier curve from 3Dview to Graph Editor buffer and to paste F-curve from Graph Editor buffer to 2D bezier curve in 3Dview.

But I have absolutely no idea if it is possible.

If only copying/pasting curves between applications was as easy as copying/pasting text.

*Even copy/paste anything between two opened files (two copies of Blender) would be handy (or is it already possible?). This without having to go through the all Append-Link process.
Yet cekhunen’s idea seams pretty smart…

why not a transparent background set from user preferences?
