Background Image Sequence not Visible?

Hi everyone, first post here. I’m just having a little hiccup with background images - it’s probably something incredibly simple, but I’m having trouble finding the answer through Googling.

I’m trying to display either an image sequence OR video clip in the background of my scene as reference for an animation. I’m not trying to render the background, I only want it there so I can see what’s happening frame-by-frame. Static background images load perfectly well, but whenever I select a video or sequence of images, nothing appears.

I’ve viewed the scene from all angles, including through the camera, I have the background image itself set to display from all angles, and I’m not viewing the scene in rendered mode. Again, if I use a static image, everything works exactly as expected, so I can more or less confirm that the scene is set up properly.

If you know what I may be missing or if I need to supply more information, please let me know! I appreciate your help.

Ensure you are in the correct view as set in the background settings
Ensure you have set the Source to Moview or Image Sequence
Ensure you have set the data source to be Image and not Moview

Please show us your settings and what type of image/movie files you want to use

Here is a screenshot of the settings - I’m just trying to use a png sequence.

Renaming the frames such that the first frame is 1 or 001 or 0001 etc seems to solve the issue.
