BackiZ BWC Entry - Finished

Hey Guys, been some time since I posted here. But I have something to show you now.
It’s for the Blender World Cup (yes I’ve won that twice). The topics Nature, Future, Discovery and Religion were given. I tried to express them somehow in this image.
Enough talk, here’s the (too) big Image (Why did you want 1 Mega Pixels Alltaken?):

=== Small update: moon, stars, lighter lamp darker edges, removeed some black lines ===
=== Small update 2: Didn’t like the orange moon :slight_smile: ===

About the render:
Rendered in two images, foreground and background, post processed and mixed in Corel Photo-Paint 7. Render of the foreground took 1 hour on a AMD Athlon 1800+ 1,53 GHz with 512 MB RAM (too little). Background was rendered at a lower quality and took some minutes.

Don’t forget to vote guys!

Cya,

Nice work BackiZ, will this be your third cup in the collection?

And 1 Mega pixel or bigger (for the entry) because I felt it was not to big to be unrealistic to achieve, but big enough to present a challenge.

I will shrink all the entries a little for forum display, but will keep links to the high res versions.

Alltaken

This looks really neat. One of the eyes on the robot looks a bit weird.

Aligorith

wow, I think we came up with very similar concepts.

I like the toonish feel of your image though, and the grass is really nice.

good luck!

Like the idea and the realisation. The only thing I would notice is the lighting which should be more dark on the picture border. I think.

Hey,
Alltaken: ha, it isn’t too big, but a bit uneasy to view on a not so big screen. If you schrink them it will be no prob at all. And yes, it can result in my 3rd Cup. I’ve drunken out of my 2004 one while makeing this one  Hoping it would give luck haha.

Jack000: I’ve seen your image now, and yes it’s both about a plant. It’s looking good!

Aligorith: I think you mean his left eye, looks too flat. I’ll see if I can fix it.

Poison: ok thanks. I probably add some more light to the lamp, just for the contrast, which is your point I think. I didn’t make the background too dark, because it was night and didn’t want it to appear completely black in daylight.

Thank you for your comments!
BackiZ

Hey, Good to see your entry. Looks great.
Why werent you here:http://www.blendernation.com/2007/05/16/ton-sago-macouno-blender-event-2007/
And where can we vote?

Very nice! Some serious contest this year. I gotta get my entry done! May the best Blenderhead win!

To bad there wasn’t a wip thread on this one. Would have been nice to follow!

Really nice entry BackiZ  you’ve managed to capture the feeling of “Aaahw” perfectly

Good luck to you! Wish you all the best with the contest!

Jogai: Because I was studying little flowers in the mountains of the pyrenees! Otherwise I certainly would have been there

Hey M.p.h.e, That’s what I was thinking about yours  I just coudn’t let that one win without trying… But maybe a good second place? :stuck_out_tongue: (I really like your story and the syle). It’s not so bad this one didn’t had any wip thread. Because it would be a short one! I’ve been (after I came back for those mountains) to Croatia for 2 weeks, leaving just 2 weeks to make this one. In the first weak I drawed the bot’s head (see image below) next day a scene, which was horrible bad and boring. Two days ago I decided to make another scene, with the bot in a more close up view. I’ve been working on that for one day (from 9:00 till 2:00). Not really usefull for a WIP thread. Besides, I don’t like having a WIP myself not so much. Because you would have to show unfinished work. I don’t work on a object till it’s finished. I rather make everything, do a render, change all the things I didn’t like and render again etc. The first renders are really bad. When I think it’s done (nothing to improve) I like to have feedback, to improve things I’ve missed. Not to say I didn’t enjoy your WIP thread

Wow, nice clean feel! Cartoony but realistic simultaneously.

There’s alot of character to this, definately a serious contender.

sweet looking

The entertainment value of this one is enough to bring it towards the front. It may not be as complex as the other entries, though it doesn’t need that complexity.

Have you tried with pixars rendering technique. There is a thread here that had a link from cgtalk. Looks great btw.

Bigbad: I think i’ve seen a thread about pixar style things, but didn’t find any technical information. Can you point me to it? thx
BackiZ

hey!!! i like the whole thing! especially the robot! cute to me!

Nice picture.
Which script/program did you use for the background plants?

hal2100:

Blender Tree-maker Script ver1.30

2001-2005 Armagan YAVUZ
