composition ends where text starts.
I was just left with some extra on the paper, and decided to add the text there. all these are done on 800x600 resolution, because that’s the max for cgtalk.

He’s actually puking in the gutter - because he’s a little tipsy (off his head). That’s why there’s no head… right?

nobody asked… but just to show you, how it’s done… and that there was head underneath all that, in the beginning… I usually just let the picture takes it’s own course…
1: sketch
it’s a quick sketch of the character… this is the main idea.
2: refining sketch
checking out the most important parts of the sketch, and making them stronger… adding the idea of “light coming from mouth”.
the white shown here is what was left after I erased most of it… I had much more of it … actualyl the whole thing pouring from face was white… but… I thought it’s too much… and went with curvy lines instead.
3: coloring
added coloring to the clothes… dark pants, lighter coat… also some to the ground… sort of a shadow… or pavement…
started adding the watercolourish edges…
most of the work in this part is done with my own animated watercolor gimp brush…
4: finalizing
I was happy how it was going, so more everything like that.
more fuzzy lines, more color… added hair… also, simplyfying the concept… removed the sketch lines from background (they were on separate layer underneat) … this is when the head vanished…
and finally wrote the text.
that’s it.
