Bake bone anim to vertex anim

Is possible bake bone animation to vertex animation?

For 2.4x: Select your mesh and use Export>Vertex Keyframe Animation (.mdd). This data can then be imported as shape keys if that’s your end goal – Import>Load MDD to Mesh RVKs

Same options should be in 2.5 but maybe some new ones also, haven’t looked into that yet.
