Baking displacement maps

So, I’ve a high res sculpt and a retopologied version, and wan’t to bake over the details of the high res one to the low as a displacement map. But Blender doesn’t seem to support such a bake type.
Googling around, users have been speaking about the lacking of such a feature for years. Is can’t still not be supported, or can it? Or are there some workarounds? I don’t know what how to progress foreward if not. A normal map wouldn’t suffice in my case.

It is supported, but only with the use of the multires modifer (using the bake from multires feature). You would need to put a multires modifier on your low poly model, shrinkwrap it to the high poly model then apply the shrinkwrap. Once the low poly has the full detail of the sculpt as part of the multires modifier, you can then set the bake settings to bake from multires and you will get the displacement option.
