Baking Hair Normal Map

Hi all,

I created a particle hair system in Blender which I was easily able to convert to a mesh, but now I’m attempting to bake out that high-res mesh to a low-res mesh and I’m getting pretty much just a pixelated mess. If anyone has accomplished this successfully, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I’m trying to do that but I can’t find how to do it.

It’s hair mesh from zbrush and baked in Marmoset.

I tryed with xnormal and I get the same result as in blender.
I get this with blender and xnormal

Anyone know how I can have good baked hair on a normal map? (like the first picture from marmoset)
(I don’t own marmoset and I don’t have the money to buy it)

I tryed hair curve and particle system converted to mesh, I tryed with cage for baking the hair. nothing works, but I can bake a combined texture and I have hair and shadows baked.

Best regards,
asecchiba.

I also tryed hair geometry from Zbrush but it didn’t worked.

Hi @goorman This video doesn’t show how to bake hair for a normal map. Like the image from marmoset on my previous post.

Hi,

Something like that?

Yes that’s what I am trying to do.
Thank you
