Baking maps

I have been pulling my hair cuz of frustration, I can’t seem to make this work >.<. Ok, so I was following this video (http://cgcookie.com/blender/2010/08/30/retopology-and-normal/) that talks about retopology. So this is my situation: I have a very high poly model(of about 58K) and so I was searching on how I could make it a lower poly model. I followed the video but for the life of me, I can’t seem to bake the map right. It just comes out completely purple, which is really weird since in the video it showed alot of colors. Ok, so I continued anyways, and the low poly version I have, does not map the details of the high poly one. So my question is, why!!!??? >.< is been killing me! lol

In the low poly mesh BAKE options make sure the checkbox “selected to active” is checked, also you have to select high poly mesh and shift select low poly for it to work.

It is selected. The settings I used were:

Bake mode = normals
normal space = tangent
clear = checked
selected to active = checked
margin = 2
distance = 0
split = auto
bias = 0.3

I also did that, selecting the hi-poly mesh first and then shift select the lo-poly. Also, the map I unwrapped was from the lo-poly. This is the map I get:

as you can see is completely purple. I’m not sure what to do here >.<

Something you should have done in your original post. Attach your blend file or post it here http://www.pasteall.org/blend/

Oh, I’m sorry. I tried to attach it, but it was very big(not in file size, but in image size), so I used imageshack which is what I usually use as an image uploader. I apologize cuz I just read in the rules that no URLs allowed =[
