Hi everyone, I didn’t want my first post to be a question but I’ve hit a bit of a brick wall. I’m trying to texture a model using the Quixel suite and I’m trying to bake a normal map so the software understands the geometry of my model (which is a sci-fi helmet). I want to bake a normal map of my high poly model and I guess my question is can I generate a normal map of my model without using a low poly model? Or would baking a normal texture from a high poly model to a low poly model work for this purpose? I don’t know much about this subject so any information or feedback is much appreciated.
The normal map represent the differences between two objects.
So it would be the difference between your high poly model and the model you want to use with the normal map. You don’t have to create a third even lower poly object
