I’m really new to blender and trying to finish my first model.
My biggest problem at the moment is to bake the normal map in a way that the map is actually working.
I’m baking from high poly to low poly, but 95% of the normal map is just yellow and has no effect when adding the normal map in the shading editor to the low poly model.
that yellow things are the faces that clipping throght the low res mesh. always make the low res mesh little bigger than higres. you can do this automaticaly and better in substacnee painter, stringly recomending if you do more baking , texture for future
Thanks for your answer.
are there no ways doing this completely in blender?
I saw tutorials in youtube and they’ve done it in blender but I don’t get the result.
I don’t need it often, maybe two times a month and for that substance painter is to expensive.
What I like to do, is add a displace modifier to push out the low poly, that way you can very easily see when things are and aren’t covered, and its super easy to just remove it after the bake.
For problem spots, I’ll add a shapekey and manually push it out if I need to.
