Baking particle animation to use over again with a moving object?

Hi,

I’ve modeled an alien spaceship and gave its laser (pew pew) a nice “charge-up” animation with particles. Now I’m stuck. I’ve backed the animation but how to I parent it to the ship and key it in the NLA. is this even possible? Or should i just make the animation and key in when the particles start and stop? I just thought i could trigger the back somehow.

I should mention I want to use the animation on a moving object, if I try it “live” it completely messes up the effect because i have vortex and wind effects. Thats why i wanted to use the baked version.
