Baking Reflections

Ive made a bunch of objects with some glossy shaders on them

I want to bake those reflections into an image , is this possible?



i dont think you can bake something that is depending on the camera angle. Correct me if I’m wrong. But this wouldn’t make much sense.


As centauri said, angle-dependent shading effects can not be represented with a single baked image.

Basically there are two options:

  • bake a 360 equirectangular environment map from center of object and use it as reflection probe
  • render a light field texture

First is doable by setting up a camera at the position of the object you want reflections for and rendering a panoramic image from there.

Second option is not possible with any easy means at the moment, but is theoretically totally possible and valid.
