I’m planning on doing sets of animation exercises in both Blender and XSI. My goals will be both to learn how to animate better, and to figure out what’s currently better and worse about animating in Blender compared to XSI. Then once I have some free time (which won’t be for a while), perhaps I can code some nifty new animation features into Blender. Or at the very least make some feature proposals.
So, anyway, you can eventually look forward to some Blender animation coming from me.
In any case, I’d like some WIP critiques on this silly little ball.
Nice squash and streach!!! hehe I see you kept the volume on as well, which is good, a lot of people forget that…
Glad to see your using both XSI and Blender, i’ve been using xsi and maya for so long now i’ve totally forgoten how to use Blender. But, if i had the time it probably wouldn’t take me long to get back into it. Im just to comfortable in XSI now hehe.
Nice animation, you seem to know your principles of animation and the important stuff, so keep up the good work.
Matt
Blend on, and blend well!!!
(PS: You should see what im doing in xsi now, facial shapes and lip syncing, so much fun!!! Let me know if you need any xsi animation stuff, tho i specialize in modeling and rigging up stuff mostly.)
What is present is already very good.
The catlike ball looking up, get all excited which is visible because of the tail-wigging.
Very good.
But it could use eyes or something at least :]
P
Yeah, it doesn’t take long. I was using just XSI and Maya for a while, too. I tried going back to Blender and it felt like I was a total stranger to it all over again. But after about a half hour I was fine.
Yup. 100% manually keyframed bones.
Well, that’s not really the point of the exercise. But don’t worry, I’ll work my way up to more complicate characters. Including ones with eyes.
