Bark Texture On A Tree

I got a picture 2D an image of bark

i’m using it as a texture to be put around a cylinder

how can i do it

what setting should i used for Map input and Map output

it works fine on the face of a cube but how to lay it down around a cylinder so that it look like a normal tree

Tanks & Salutations

You mean Map input to Tube !

That the first thing i did - and it does not work on the cylinder

it looks like a very elongated things but not as Bark on a tree

Any other suggestion

In the ‘map input’ buttons You could try sphere, or even cube, but you’ll mostly need to adjust map size x,y,z to get a natural look. also you may need to rotate 90 deg. That can be done in the bottom grid ( those 3 Xs, Ys, Zs…)
but if needed its easier in the ‘texture image’ pane where the image was selected.( rot 90)
Alternatly you may get good results with the ‘Cloud-vironoi’ texture. Just a thought.
