Basic help with Spheres and rolling

Very new at blender and am trying out animating with physics. I have set up my scene with two pool balls that i made. I made them active rigid bodies. They are on a plane, which is itself a passive rigid body. I have a white ball rolling in from the side, which is supposed to hit the balls already in the camera view, but these roll back and forth in defiance of newtons first law! Is there something i should add?? Is there a way to keep them still until they are hit?? help… ??

It’s hard to say without seeing the blend. Try uploading it to pasteall or other file sharing service.

Yes, there’s a way to keep them still, in the physics tab you just have to set the still sphere to be deactivated, so under the rigid body dynamics panel check Enable deactivation and start deactivated
