Basic texture problems 101 - v2.66a - textures disappear in Node Editor

Hi everyone - first post so newbie saying hi! I’ve tripped over a bit of an issue during a tutorial from Blender Guru (http://www.blenderguru.com/videos/create-a-realistic-earth/). Switching back to the Node Editor, often the textures just disappear? In the nodes there is no sphere, just a blank space in my Material Nodes. Now when I F12 Preview, I just get a base colour on my sphere in 3d view which I have applied on one of my three spheres in the tutorial. If I click on one of the Material Nodes (turns orange), the little Texture square has vanished from the list where there is Material, World, Camera etc.

Any ideas anyone? Many thanks for any “Oh you need to do that!” pointers

cheers

frank

Sounds like you are using the Cycles renderer instead of the Blender Internal renderer.
You can change from one to the other in the drop down list at the top of the blender interface

Lol d’oh yup… thanks!!
