This is Bastet, the goddess of protection in ancient Egypt. Ancient Egypt is pretty well known for their cat statues and symbols. These were made to honor Bastet. She was also the daughter of Ra, the sun god.
I had for a long time wanted to try create something related to Egypt. Their enormous monuments and cool looking gods are fascinating Rendered with LuxRender.
This is a beautiful sculpt, Piita! The detailing of the clothing and the form of the woman are wonderful. Her posture is very natural looking.
Your materials are also very good; are you using texture maps to control the shininess of the different areas?
The lighting and render is great as well. Have you done any post processing to the image? It has the look of being realistically sharp, but not impossibly sharp the way a CG render normally is.
OMG! It’s awesome! Although I’m not the best of judges, cause I love ancient Egypt, I’m actually planning to devote some of my summer time to create things related to Egypt. 5 stars from me.
Thanks!
Yes, texture maps for diffuse, roughness and bump. I used bloom and chromatic aberration post processing effects in LuxRender.
I think the pose turned out great. Originally I had her not look into the camera, instead a little to the side. Well, that was the same pose but she was rotated a little bit on the Z axis. Then I tried this current and final angle, and it’s amazing what a simple 12 degree rotation can do. She looks taller and more powerful. I love that look she’s giving you
Thanks!
Ancient Egypt has lots of cool things. I had a lot of fun creating Bastet so I’m certainly going to visit that category again.
RATHER photoreal… and a nice model too. Good work!
Sure, looks like you just to a photo. Lol, Awsome!!
