Bates House--Updated Slightly.

I know theres still a lot to be done. But just wanted to show what I have done so far. I texture as I go along as I get bored doing one thing for so long. And ignore the many shadows…I have a lamp in the front, and both sides of the house, so I could see if every thing was ok when I rendered it.

Looking good although I think you’re missing a round window on the front aspect if memory serves me correct. You gonna model an appropriately chilling scene too?

And I texture as I go too. Is that generally a no no?

Not so about it being a no-no, guess it depends on the person? Yeah, I just have to figure out how to make that window…took me 3 tries to get the house to go the way i wanted, each board is duplicated. but each “panel” of boards is its own object. Once I figure out how to make the front door look decent, the rest should be easy, I hope.

As for the chilling scene, I hope so…if time allows.

a bit of an update. All thats really left is to do now is the stairs and the round window.

Looks good! I have a house in my neighborhood that has this general style … We call it the Munster House because it looks like Herman and family could easily have owned it. I’ve always liked this style of architecture.

This would be a cool thing for Halloween!

Thanks! Halloween was the inspiration, but also hopefully for a wallpaper (contest) so have to figure out a way to incorporate the topics too. So, I might make 2 different scenes. We shall see. I just gotta figure out where Im going from here.

I think I am done with the house. I believe I got every nook and cranny of it.

Ok, so I started messing around with the particles…and love how the grass came out for the most part, except the parts towards the front. But something is off to me.

The house seems small in comparison to the grass, although the grass is really short.

In no way was I going for extremely realism for the house to begin with, but I think the mix of the two doesnt look right? (the sky is a photo from the internet that I mapped to the world)

I also know that the grass shouldnt be engulfing, for lack of a better word, the house. So I’m thinking adding some dirt around the perimeter may help?

Is there anything else I’m not seeing, or a better way to make it look better?

Ok, IMO, it looks a little better, although still bland.

Could someone be kind enough to point me to a good fire tutorial? Preferably a PDF for 2.49b? The one I had found I followed to a tee, but when I rendered it, it was just a blob. :frowning:

The latest update. C&C always welcome. I enlarged the house. Played with the soft body cloth, added some blood.

Maybe I should actually watch the movie. LOL
