BB8 in Death Star - My personal quality render so far

Hello fellow artists, this is my first post here. And this is the progress after a year of learning blender. I am happy but I know I have a long way to go.

BB8 in Death Star - With blender 2.79

I tried to make the textures and materials procedural. But I couldn’t get the scratches quiet natural procedural(not that now looks natural in my render… :P) so I just created a image texture with a scratch brush in GIMP and used in blender.

the grunge on edges is also procedural. But doesn’t quite look right. Can we really achieve everything procedural or the better way is to use texture maps?

Please shoot your thoughts. Any feedback is welcome.
