BC Robot Contest - Eco-work Bot

I want to try and join a contest and feel what it’s like to have a deadline, never done that before

My idea is to make a work bot, thats electric powered and big parts of it made by wood. The world that it’s set in, is where resources are still depleting fast, and focus of production has shifted towards more sustainable materials, like wood. Reforging metal takes a lot of energy, so metal parts has to be keeps minimal.
This guy is powered by small electronic engines thats placed inside all the joints, and those get power from the battery which again is replenished by the solar cells on the back. Pine wood is the material as it’s quite strong but also very light weight. The bot has the tools to replace all it’s wooden parts on the run, if that is necessary. Most cables is running inside the logs in a hole thats been drilled though the logs.

Anyway thats just some of my thought behind this bot, but some of it might change later on.

Textures, materials and background is just something I slapped on to test.
I do have some problems with adding details to the wood logs. I would like to add places where branches has been sawed off, but i cant find a good way to do this. Any suggestions?

Lets see how this turns out

That’s a very original idea. I like it. Let’s see, how this turns out …

It looks so cool! The model is very awesome. Keep Going!

I’m assuming that the saw is supposed to be a chainsaw? If so, I would recommend rounding off the end. THe square end looks a little funny.

Thanks for the comments guys
Yes the chainsaw looks a bit too boxy and I will tweak it later.

I’m still working on making the logs look better, and here is the most recent attempt tp add sawed off branches. Its just a quick texture paint to try it out.

Looking already good but needs some roughness through displacement. In most cases branches wouldn’t grow in upright angles away from the stem.
