i have a question. how would i go about making little LED lights on the inside of the body and then having them glow? also i was thinking when im done with the modelling and stuff i might try and animate this. is that something i can do when its all done or do i have to start laying down some of the groundwork for that now

Im not sure how to make the LED glow i would like to know how to do this aswell because it is usefull. And for animating well you can start any time but id start before you detail it fully because if somthing goes wrong F**K lol

This project is very interesting to me, I’m looking forward to seeing him animated. This thread should help you as far as glass material settings: thread. The material library from blender.org also has a glass material.

For the LED’s I’d suggest using playing around with a “Halo” material. Just crank up “Emit” too… I haven’t actually done this before but give 'er a whirl.

alright so ive decided to make this tihng full of liquid and have been testing it out here is a few tests i have been working on if anyone has any suggestions or can help with better setting that would be awesome thanks

here are the links to the videos

also this is the first time ive tried posting videos so if they dont work can someone tell me so i can try and fix em

I can’t get them to load… Try using something that would allow you to download them rather than watch them in the browser…

This is what I’d do for glowing lights:

First, I’d create a regular lamp. Turn on raytraced shadows and toggle on the sphere setting. The sphere setting, as the hint says, makes the light fall off so that it’s 0 at the lamp’s distance (it defaults to 20, which is usually wrong).

Next, you can create a point halo. Create a plane, delete three vertices, and give it a material with the ‘Halo’ setting on. Do a ‘Centre’ in Object mode to get the vertex centered on the object origin. Then, you can position the object at the lamp’s origin. You might want to parent the halo object to the lamp.

TIP: make halo size 0.1-0.7 usually.

This method gives you a glowing LED that actually lights up objects nearby. You might not want to use lamps if you don’t care whether surrounding objects are lit up, because lamps are time-intensive to render.

Hope this helps!
