[beginner] Added some functionality to .3ds importer, how to succeed

Hi, I’ve updated the script that in theory handles this situation, if samu_locale == ‘’ sets it to ‘UTF-8’

The link is the same:

thanks!!! i use your script… my work is much faster. I often have to update objects created in “archicad” and imported into blender. now the materials are maintained! thank you, simdal

The Dropbox has changed its linking system, I updated the llink, it’s here:

Oh yes, I was looking for something similar to the magnificient Din3D plugin for Cinema 4D to update ARCHICAD models with basically no work in Blender, let’s hope it really does the work!

Well, finally I got the time to play with it, and instantly got this error:

I’m using Blender 2.79 and ARCHICAD 21 under MacOS 10.13 at the moment.

I saw in the import script, that you’ve updated it to handle the previously reported error, but seems it’s still broken.
Could you take a closer look at it? My test setup is pretty simple, only diffuse coloured slabs, whose material names only contain international characters.

Later I will test it under Windows 10 (AC21+B2.79), I will update the thread with the results.

This script may be an option - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWAEWqPFgzI
With this you can make a database of material and replace them fast if the same parts is imported over and over again.

Thanks, I will give it a shot!
