Beginners question: objects relocate when starting game mode

Hi
I searched the knowledge base and the forum but found no simular topic. The problem I have i however rather common. When I model something in the 3D window and I start the game mode(P-key) some objects are relocated/rotated from the original position. When it looks OK after some changes in the model everything has moved. I don’t know which changes cause this behaviour. I tried setting the frame counter at 1 and set a key for location for al objects but that didn’t work. Please help since I find this a bit frustrating.

I don’t know if this is your problem but give it a try:
If youv’e put dynamic actors through each other, they will jump apart when you start the game. Only set the dynamic property on the logic page to objects you want to move, fall, be able to push around, ect. The collision around the dynamic actors might not be what you were expecting, if you switch to shaded, wireframe, or bounding box mode you can see the collision radius. Adjust it with the size paramater. For better collision detection, select bounds, and choose how you want it to be worked out. (Using this to much can slow it down). However, using these collision models makes my objects slide around during realtime mode. Is this your problem?

If your want to check if animation is causing this, it would be better to look on a IPO curve editor window. From here press home to see all animation keys. If the object is not animated, there will be no name in the Datablock. (There will just be a double arrow on the header) To remove animation from an object, press the cross next to the name here.

If the all the objects appear to be moving together, it may just be the camera.

Hope that helps you Aaltje.
