How can I easily bend a cylinder to the letter C.
Nice tutorial but I mean to bend a tube or cylinder.
Is it for a still picture, or an animation?
I made an example .blend that contains an example utilizing the curve modifier. As a bonus I added a bevOb example. http://bebraw.googlepages.com/bentcylinder.blend
Its for a still picture
Thanks for the C but how did you bend the cylinder.
I want to bend a cylinder on any point I can choose is that possible?
If it’s using a curve, then you can edit the position and placement of the curve.
sorry I am just a beginner do not see anything about it in the wiki
maybe I am not reading it good.
On the c on the right, you’ll notice a strand coming out - that is the curve. Right click that and tab into edit mode -the knots or points of the curve will be editable, and you can reshape the cylinder that way.
Ok I see what you mean but still.
Add mesh cilinder made it longer then in object mode add modifier choose curve but when I apply I get an error. The C is open and the cilinder I use is closed.
If you applied the modifier, you finalized the mesh into that shape. Reopen the file, and try again without applying the modifier - you should be able to move the cureve and have it reshape the mesh.
Since its for a still picture, you could always just do a “spin” and the use a subsurf to smooth it out more.
I do not know how to set a curve in a tube or cylinder.
Is it the only way to bend cylinder tubes?
