abt bending objects, i use a bezier curve and make it a parent(curve deform) of the object i wanna bend. i can do that but i do no know how to control it at all. a soon as i make parent, the object is displaced and when its moved. yeah i have seen the monkey head tutorial but i still cant control it. any tips ?
here’s what i mean, take a line/plane/tube etc and bend it, simply bend it.
here’s some before and after the make parent curve deform thing
You need to have CurvePath button on (enabled) for the modifier curve.
But before that it matters in which View you add the curve (should be same as you add the other object. Add 2 curves, i in top view and 1 in Front view at Loc 0, 0, 0. then look at their loc values in the N (transform) Panel)
The curve and it’s object should be the same scale (Ctrl-A on both) before parenting.
If you select (RMB) and move the Object relative to the curve you will see the spacial influence of the curve.
You got the easiest way. You can select the curve and in edit mode hit U to get it back to where you were before Ctrl-A.
In my first reply the first line was the answer and all the rest was to help you in the future. (But do select the tube and scale it to the size of the curve).
Also, loop cut your cylinder several times along it’s length. If you’re using the default cylinder, it will not bend because the side edges are not cut into sections that will allow it to bend.
Try this. Create a cylinder, Tab to go to edit mode, K key, loop cut. do it several times so that the cylinder has a couple of edge loops along it’s length. Then add your curve, path. Parent the cylinder to the path, choose curve deform. Click the path, Tab to go to the edit mode and move the nodes around. The cylinder should deform accordingly. You might also want to click the CurveStretch button so that the cylinder is the same length as the path.
