Thanks for Sharing…
Heheh, in fact that’s what I’m desperatedly asking to know ![]()
Nvidia cards are always the same since g80-g82 and I’m tired of seeing renamed versions of 8000M mobile chips… and you always pay a lot for just a rebranded mobile vga (that performs practically the same)… at least the newhd5650 is based upon the rv800 chips and it’s the same of a discrete 5570 desktop vga which isn’t that bad at all. The difference relies on drivers… usually desktop graphics are better supported than mobile versions even if it’s the same chip that’s why I was asking blender performance with the 5650… Seeing this card usually coupled with the latest core i3-330m or i5-430m with 1366x768 monitors at around 6-700€ it seems a real bang-4-the buck configuration… the card should do it for gaming at that resolution and the cpu with the hyperthreading seems a reasonable choice for light rendering.
yes that is true the rebranding is really bad with nvidia…
well i would never buy a laptop with such a bad resolution, 1366x768 wtf is that? even my 6 year old laptop has a 1600x1050 resolution and thats about the minimum which i feel comfortable. and for that resolution the 5650 ati chip is total overkill and not worth spending the extra money for it with this crappy display.
with that resolution you could go with a 3650 or 3850 (maybe even a x serie would do it with that res) and would have plenty of performance if the drivers are ok:O
i dont understand these strange hardware setups from laptops nowadays, they make no sense… looks like the ones who build them have absolutely no clue what they are doing…
I just purchased this laptop: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus±+Laptop+with+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i5+Processor±+Blue/Black/9736955.p?id=1218164036446&skuId=9736955
Thanks everyone for your help and advice!
Try Lenovo ThinkPad W series. They’ve got core i5 or i7 CPUs, nice graphics card and are quite durable
Sorry, didnt realize you already bought the laptop. Please ignore my post
Bwahahaha.
YMMD!
Try to actually read a thread before posting there, in a discussion or conversation its always helpful to know what others said/got to say or already did for instance =)
Wow, dude, chill. I didnt notice there was a second page on a thread and just trying to be helpful. I am very sorry I screwed up your day.
I am all chilled, no worries. You might wanna read up on online abbreviations =)
YMMD = you made my day.
I had a hearty laugh, a good way to start a monday IMO ![]()
Sorry to be amused on your expense, no bad blood, I am just a fool that is easily entertained hrhr.
Agree with you on the whole Monday thing
Late post! Firmly aimed at current niche market for slate type PCs but check-out the dual Wacom based pen and touch modes on this slate (http://www.tabletkiosk.com/tkstore/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=16&idproduct=256). Its a bit dated hardware wise but still pretty cool. Not sure how well Blender will run on it, but this is the type of machine I want, when I can afford it.
Thanks for the sharing. Its a great site for laptop purchasing.
I recently got the last one from Best Buy about 3 days ago. Great hackintosh (got the info at http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=219591), great performance (hope to get gtx 480m mxm card), i5 up to i7 (search results page 2 here:http://gog.is/asus/g60jx/upgrade/i5/to/core/i7 source reports: http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/464489-asus-g60jx-no-upgrade-possible.html) and gpu upgradability (no sources yet).
I might upgrade the LCD to Dell XPS 16 RGB-LED HD.
The lowest price for
Asus Eee PC 1008P
IS that I could find so far is here:
Haha I dissagree!
I had an acer a while back, it was terrible, got a Dell XPS M1530 and its been great. Still going strong. Im about to wipe it and install windows 7 and linux to keep it going for another year. Or Ill just buy one of the newer dells.
Everyone gives them a bad wrap because of the exploding battery issue a few models back ![]()
Im still amazed at how fast laptops advance in a single year. Mines pretty much stone age stuff compared to ones half the price currently…
