I don’t know where else to post so sorry if I’m in the wrong section…
Anyways you can pretty much call me a complete 3D animation noob… I want to pick up a book on blender but I’m wondering which one… I’m looking for sort of an all-in-one so I’ve narrowed it down to The Essential Blender, Blender for Dummies (which I know isn’t released yet) and Blender 3D: Noob to Pro…
Now there could be more greater and better ones as well so plz suggest to me if you know of any… other than that plz give me advice on which your opinion would be the best book for me…
mate,
I can heartily recommend “Animating with Blender” by D.Roland Hess, awesome piece of work. Available on Amazon. It does assume some prior knowledge i.e modelling, blender interface, etc. It’s specifically pretty much a walk-through from start to end of making an animation; includes CD with all files etc.
Well actually I’m looking for a book which assumes the person is a total newb and has no background in modeling… It’d be preferably one which explains modeling, animation, game engine etc. so the whole bunch… I take Animating with Blender by R. Hess focuses mainly on the animation aspect in great detail… I would like a book which looks at these in similar detail…
To basically reword my question it would be should I wait for Blender for Dummies or just get The Essential Blender now? The reason I’m asking this is because christmas break is coming up and I would like to experimenting with Blender over the break… Buying The Essential Blender now would mean I can start over christmas break, but the compromise might be price + content… Waiting for Blender for Dummies would mean I would have to start AFTER christmas break but it would be cheaper and maybe just a little more of what I’m looking for…
So which choice would you recommend I make? Buy Essential Blender? or wait for Blender for Dummies…
I can recommend several books in no particular order: 1) The Essential Blender: a good book to start with and the pictures in the book are downloadable from the site in colour; 2) Bounce, Tumble and Splash by Tony Mullen, 3) Blender 3D Noob to Pro: the pdf’s do not have all what is on the website; 4) Animating with Blender; and for some architectural type stuff: 5) Blender 3D Architecture for Buildings and Scenery, can even purchase a pdf version of the book that is searchable and can copy and paste from it.
