I used blender at work, on my spare time, and at home.
I was wondering what’s the best way to maintain parity between both installs settings?
Also i’ve just updated from 2.8 to 2.81 and i’m missing a fair few addon script files, what is the best way to gurarantee everything works seemlesly when updating and moving between PCs?
I’ve had a look at blender cloud and it was great for syncing my hotkeys but noticed it didn’t manage modifiers.
Use portable versions of Blender, create config folder in the 2.80(or whatever version it is) directory, copy that config folder forward when preferences are compatible. Addons are a little more finicky since the 2.79/2.80 api changes, so either keep them organized somewhere else and copy them into that specific version’s addon folder or you can specify a Scripts path under the Preferences’ File Paths tab. You have to create an “addons” folder under that path and put them there, not directly in the path you specify.
Never install Blender, ever, and be vigilant about deleting the home directory configs if you accidentally run it without a config folder.
