Best procedure for tuxedo tails on a model

I have gotten as far as creating a nice tux with tails on a character I have and applied the cloth simulations and it looks good. But now I am stuck. I need to attach this to the character so that when the character bends the tux bends too but I want the ends including the tails to be affected by the physics of the simulation. I have tried various online tutorials and Blender instructions but cant seem to get it to work. I have pinned the cloth and applied collision to the object. Anyone know of a sure fire method to making this work?
