Best software for coordinating a film project?

I am attempting to make a film, collaborating with other people online. I will need to share assets, communicate with team members, keep track of who’s working on what, what’s in progress and what needs to be done, and maintain a repository of all project files.

I was wondering if anyone here uses software to do this. I have seen such things advertised. What do you use? I am looking for something that’s free to use. This will be a small production, completely online. I will need to keep the project organized and moving along if it’s to be finished by 2025.

I did a quick search and found this.

I am interested in hearing from people who have produced such a film with online collaborators. How did it go? Did you run into problems? Was there any confusion dealing with multiple people working on the same Blend file, or did you keep everything separate and link or append things?

These are just some questions I have. I know organization will be important.

Notion is pretty great for project management- it’s useless for blend file organizing, for which I would recommend Flamenco

You can use https://about.gitea.com/ You can self host it. It is for sofwtare development but it has all the features for a production like tasks, projects, documentation, file versioning etc. Btw Blender Foundation moved all the codes to own Gitea server.
