Best software for manual editing image RGBA channels

Hey, what software would You recommend for easy editing/packing textures per channel of my choice. Adding alpha in photoshop is easy but moving for example blue channel from one image to another is a hell. I feel like i’m missing something obivious, as literally every game engine now uses packed textures in some way, but i can’t find any software to let me manipulate them easy manually, or any tutorial for such workflow in photoshop.

Have you tried Blender’s Compositor?
Just with Image, Combine/Separate RGBA, and FileOutput nodes, will let you do pretty much what you want.
