Best stack order for these modifiers

What is the best order for these modifiers, this is for a human model. (this is how I have them now)

  1. Armature
  2. Collision (for hair)
  3. Particle System (hair)
  4. Subsurf

my version:

4.Collision (you don’t need it unless particles come from other emitters, AFAIK)


Hm, the reason I don’t like putting the subsurf before the hair is that if you have the subsurf preview to 1 and render to 2, the hair will change slightly in renders.

But otherwise hair strands will be aligned to the normals of actual faces and not smoothly distributed around the head, or other parts.
