So imagine a plane, subdivided a few times. I want the edges to inset, and leave the faces higher, like floor tiles with the grout line slightly depressed. I could make one tile, bevel the edges and then use the array modifier, but is there a quick way to just champfer the edges of the single plane and “drop” them down a little, instead of using an array?
Yes. In edit mode, press I for inset, then take note of the additional options at the bottom of the viewport. Pressing I a second time will activate Individual mode, and holding control will give you the ability to control the depth of the inset. Then just bevel directly after that. Hope that helps.
Thanks. That worked well.
