I don’t consider myself an animator, especially when it comes to characters. I’m new to this for a project at work. I wanted to add birds to an already large project, so I found a rigged model and animated it. Unfortunately, the rig and model is made up of a bunch of parts. When I append this to the Main project, my list gets extremely long (it adds about 100 elements). If I go to duplicate the bird to create a flock, that’s a few hundred more objects in the project. While I’m keeping them all on on layer, is there a best practice or way of creating “bins” in the project tree to help keep it organized?
IE:
-Scene
+Render Layers
World
-Birds (folder/group)
-Bird01
+Armature
+elements

-Nevermind, figured out a solution-
I realized that for what I needed, the original bird was way too complex. Instead I modeled a low poly bird that looked similar to what I saw Sean Kennedy present at the Blender Conference. It’s been ten years since I tried my hand at rigging anything, but I figured it out and was able to rig the bird. My new bird is perfect for when you need a flock in the background of shots. And everything is packed neatly under the armature. I’m happy
