What do you think is the best way to make realistic clothes that have been dropped on the floor into a heap? Model the clothes as if on a character (buttons and all) then drop it with cloth simulator onto a collision object?
It depends on what the goal is- if you are looking for a pair of pants (I don’t know, as an example) that has been left of the floor and it is the only thing visible, then yes, what you are suggesting is probably the best option. However, if you want a big pile of laundry, I would suggest downloading blender 2.83 (it is still in beta) and using the cloth sculpting tools if it doesn’t have to hold up from a distance.
Yeah I’ve been using the cloth sculpting tool it’s great, but I think it wont work for this, though I’ll keep playing around with it and see what I can come up with. Although it wont be the main object, it will be quite visible.
