Best way to make the eye holes for this helmet

Hi. I’m trying to model a Greek style helmet for 3D printing. I’m having trouble getting holes where the eyes should be. Creating cylinders to do a boolean difference does not seem to work, and I’m not good enough at sculpting to know what should be done. Ive attached my iterations for general modeling comments you might want to throw in. Any tips?

One day later I still haven’t found a good solution.

The Boolean operation fails because the normals on the helmet are flipped.
Tab into Edit Mode, A to select all and then Ctrl-N to recalculate the normals.

Easiest way to make hole for eyes ar to make a hole in the mesh-extrude and scale and use lattice to deforme the eyes.
