Best way to UV unwrap this? (cubes extruded from surface of cubes)

Hi everyone,

I’m working on unwrapping a very simple mesh. I’ve been playing around with different seams for the unwrap, but I get the best results with the “smart UV project” option.

Even with the smart UV project, I get bad-looking seams around the parts that are extruded from the surface. It just doesn’t look like the texture flows correctly across the mesh, and no matter where I place the seams, I can’t seem to correct this.

Any suggestions?

use texture painting

Depending on what exactly you want… Combine.
I’d say image is a bit overdone using clone.

Eppo,

Thanks, I like the way your results turned out. I don’t see any seams on the mesh but it also doesn’t look like you used the “smart project.” How did you unwrap the UV in your example?

“Reset” for one , “Follow active quads” for other.
