So I know there’s the new fracture add-on for 2.53 but it seems there’s very limited controls for it and the results are… less than ideal? At least for my situation anyway. I was looking around and I found this script for Maya called Dg_Voro_Py. It works by placing a locator (empty) everywhere you want a fragment then grouping all the locators. You select the object you want to shatter and the group of locators and run the script. The reason I like this script is that it allows you to literally dictate where you want the center of each fragment to be and its size (by the density of the locators).
The script is written in Python and I believe the only Mel part is the GUI. Has anybody tried converting Maya Python scripts into Blender Python scripts?
I have a copy of Maya but its kind of a pain to work in both apps. I would love to see something like this translated for native Blender use.
